As I lie here thinking of my wife I smile as I remember how we met; the trials and tribulations I went through to get her to go out with me. I recall the jubilation I felt after our first date; the joy I felt after our first kiss. The ecstasy I felt the first time we made love.

She is my heart and I like to think I am hers. Even after all this time I have my doubts.

I remember our first fight, the tears and accusations. I remember the hurt I felt when she accused me of being with another. I almost walked out and never came back. That is until I looked into her eyes and saw the doubt and fear in her eyes. I realized she was pushing me away because she was scared and not because she didn’t trust me. That night was the last night she ever doubted my love for her but was by no means our last fight.

We lived and loved as if every day would be our last. We lived life with a passion that would never die and a love that would follow us into the next life.

I never saw the end coming. I never expected her broken body to come through the doors of my ER one bright and shiny day. Her light slowly left her body no matter how much I begged and pleaded with her not to leave me.

She died in my arms after I exhausted all my skills trying to stop the blood from hemorrhaging from her body. Careless teenagers out for a joy ride took her from me.

As I look at our daughter lying here beside me looking so much like her mother, I realize that life must continue. I hold the belief that I will meet my love again in another life, another time.

She is and will always be my happiness, my joy, the light that burns in my soul.
