We can watch t.v. game shows

and yell the answers

before the contestants

and laugh…cause we were right

I want to pick an orange

from the tree in my yard

and peel it for you…

simply because I know it makes you smile

I want to watch you enjoy it

like no one has ever enjoyed fruit before

savoring each piece…

and giggling as the juice drips from your chin

I want to pick a flower for you

in the middle of February

because it just amazed you so much

that flowers grew here

in the dead of winter

I want to see the smile

the one that soothed my aching heart

I want to hear your words of wisdom

simply stated like only a mother could do

I want to cry in front of you

and I want to hear you say

"It'll be O.K."

Because, when you said it

I believed it

But now that you're gone

I can only hear the sound

of my own tears

as they fall softly

onto the picture of you
